This part of the zone is dedicated to the Hartman Arboretum.
The seeds were planted seven years ago when Grant Hartman, retired director of Food Research at Bristol Myers, was trying to find a new use for his old hayfield. His family had stopped raising cattle and the 20 acres of property, including three ponds and a wooded area, was sitting dormant.
The Hartman Arboretum is located on Big Cynthiana Road near the German Township Booster Club. Starting May 8 the arboretum will be open to the public on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to sunset through the autumn months when the leaves are changing. Special tours for groups may be scheduled at other times. Groups interested in visiting should call 963-5418 for more information.
